Meet the Team Behind the Mission

The conference is co-produced by a passionate group of women who support the mission of empowering marginalized individuals of all ages to thrive in their professional lives despite the challenges they face.

Karis D. Townsend

Karis has over 20 years of experience in Operations, Sales Engineering, and Management. She is a proud graduate of Hampton University and Georgetown University (Masters). Additionally, Karis holds a Master Life Coach certification. Karis is the Owner of Karisima Consulting Group, LLC. and Konversations with Karis.

Etophia Lane

Etophia has over 20 years of professional experience within entertainment, educational, small business, and non-profit. She is the Owner of The Bizness Girl and Talent/Juneteenth Tech™ Creator and inaugural ForbesBLK NewYork Local Advisor.

Dr. Martha A. Rivas, Ph.D.

Dr. Rivas is a Mexican-born, Los Angeles-based, Chicana critical race theorist. She is a mother, an award-winning author, poet, artist, professor, nonprofit executive, and community-radical scholar. She leads with nearly 35-years of community organizing and teaching truth to history. Dr. Rivas holds four degrees from UCLA, including a Ph.D. in education, specializing in the disruption of white supremacy. Known as "Dr. Martha" in the community, she is an Elder-in-training, holding ancestral wisdom with a responsibility to co-create methods and language to document our collective movement.

Abbey Weintraub-Sklar

Abbey has 18 years of experience bringing thoughtful strategy and engaging content to life through digital marketing and events across tech, higher ed, cannabis, and nonprofits. She is a graduate of Rutgers University, the School of Journalism and Media Studies.
